The Wellspring Community Development mission is to build connections to people and to place. Wellspring is a re-imagination of community development that puts relationship-building, resource sharing, and community gathering at the center. We aim to do model projects that serve our rural Maine communities, and also inform the broader community development field.

Hi! My name is Emily Ruger and I am the founder of Wellspring Community Development.
Wellspring Community Development was born from my love of Maine communities - especially rural and underserved places. I have worked in many rural places throughout Maine, managing special projects that aim to build stronger communities and celebrate the unique places throughout our beautiful state. It is my passion to do this work and am thrilled to continue this work now through Wellspring.
